Without volunteers, there would be no Cross-Lines. We are dependent on the generosity of individuals with their time and talent. We have many opportunities to serve, and we know you can find your own special place in our family of volunteers. Whatever time you can give, whatever skills you can share… we will be extremely grateful!
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Assisting in printing and preparing our newsletter for mailing
- Sacking groceries for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)
- Delivering commodity groceries to the homebound elderly
- Preparing and serving lunch at the Community Annex through the Argentine Food Kitchen
- Being a cashier at the Thrift Store
- Helping with the annual Spring Plant Sale put on by the FRIENDS of Cross-Lines
- Doing yard work/landscaping around the Cross-Lines campus
- Helping set up or being a personal shopper at our annual Christmas Store the first week of December
- Making sack lunches for the working poor
- Performing minor home repairs on local houses
We also need people to coordinate the collection of various items such as:
- Food - canned meats, soups, peanut butter, canned fruits, canned vegetables, pasta sauces and cereal are needed daily for our Food Pantry
- School Supplies - we look for everything your child would like to carry to class on the first day of school. This year we are also collecting toothbrushes and toothbrushes to give to each child.
- Thrift Store - we always need furniture, household items, and large and small appliances in working order, as well as clothes for all ages
- Christmas Store - new items are needed in four departments: clothing, household goods, toys and food. Special needs include large-sized clothing (including coats), teen gifts and clothing and thermal underwear for men
- Toiletries - we need full size shampoos, soaps, razors, toothbrushes, etc. for our shower program
